Civic Capital Corporation ("CCC") is a 501(c)3 public charity established to manage the charitable assets of the New York City Investment Fund. Its independent Board of Directors, led by Stewart Gross (Managing Director, Lightyear Capital LLC), is charged with helping the Fund fulfill its mission with respect to social and community investment. The primary investment objectives of CCC are:
Through CCC, the Fund will make below market loans to eligible projects. These generally include: 1) projects located in economically disadvantaged areas, that employ local residents and contribute to the revitalization of those areas; and 2) projects that support the health, education or research activities of the city's nonprofit institutions. The Fund has been recognized by regulators as an eligible intermediary under the Community Reinvestment Act and most of the charitable investments are CRA-related activities. Following September 11, 2001, CCC raised over $12 million to provide recoverable grants to small businesses negatively impacted by the WTC attack. |
